About
Emanuel (Manny) Arcaro was just entering his adulthood. He had completed his schooling and gained a place at the University of Melbourne. He should have been excited and exhilarated, he should have been exploring the world.
Instead, Manny was struggling with complex mental health problems. He was battling an inner dialogue that did not match reality, he was fighting hard. Sadly, Manny lost his battle, passing away in October, 2022.
Manny left a huge hole in the world. He had a large, loving family, a strong and loyal circle of friends, a loving partner, a sporting and school community where he was highly valued. Sadly, he couldn't see much of this. Sadly, this 'invisible disability' distorted his mind.
Manny had an enormous amount to give the world, but such a short time to share it.
Many people were profoundly affected by Manny's death. The sad reality is that 1 in 4 Australians are touched by the suicide of someone in their personal lives.
The loss of Manny is devastating for his family and friends, and it is
their mission to keep Manny 'alive' through raising awareness and reducing the stigma of suicide and complex mental health issues. They hope to do this through some of the things that were important to Manny: music, sport, books, food and nature.
